So just what is a Portfolio Manager? Traditionally, the title of Portfolio Manager for individual investors is the person trusted and responsible for monitoring and managing your collection of stocks and bonds with the objective of growing their overall worth. They may work alone or have an associated staff of professionals who use their knowledge and experience to sort through the variety of investment opportunities and decide where, when, and how much to invest. They spend their day analyzing and evaluating both industry and economic trends to make the most informed decisions on how to safely grow your funds.
If you have a larger portfolio of individual stocks or bonds and are either overwhelmed or tired of doing it yourself, or maybe need a change from your current portfolio manager, we can help you find other portfolio managers eager to assist and win your business.
Additionally, if you’re like the majority of Americans and really in need of someone with experience to help you decide what to do with some long term money, you may be looking for what is more appropriately termed an Investment Manager. (You may also find terms such as ‘Wealth Manager’ or ‘Private Banking’ used in this context as well.)
Either way, it boils down to the same essentials. You want your money to work for you and there are an almost endless variety of options on how to invest, how to diversify, and how to manage your assets. For example, does it matter if your investments are 100% stocks or maybe only 60% stocks? This is exactly the type of conversation a Portfolio Manager can have with you to help you decide what is in your best interest based on your investments and objectives. These decisions will make a significant difference in terms of the return you might be able to hope for over time, and more importantly the kind of ride you will be able to expect as the market moves.
The important thing for getting started is to find someone who can talk about their process and explain it to you in a way that makes you feel comfortable. We’re here to help.
